Where the highest levels of protection and security are required we can supply and install Glass Anchorage and Retention Systems. These systems secure the filmed glass to the surrounding frames thus preventing it from leaving the frame in the event of an incident.
Whether the occurrence is due to explosion, vandalism or a spontaneous break caused by nickel sulphide inclusions in toughened glass, the consequences can be life threatening. This is particularly dangerous if the affected pane is part of an overhead glazing system, roof lights or curtain walling.
A high specification structural silicone is applied to the point where the filmed glass meets the frame. This provides a secure anchorage with some flexibility to absorb any impact or pressure wave, it is also very usefull for enhancing security against break in or theft.
A solid extrusion or profile equipped with a rubber gasket is employed, the security film is then located behind the extrusion which is screwed to the surrounding frame. A snap on trim is then applied to the finished assembly to provide a pleasing appearance. This system provides significantly higher strength and resistance for blast pressure or impact loads
NOTE. All retention systems should be used with a higher thickness security film. We suggest a minimum of 200 micron.
